Before we begin the article proper--a few quick updates:
The new slogan has been chosen and implemented, as promised. Like last time, you folks picked the last one of the choices I expected. Not that I'm complaining--I'm just amused by the fact that the most votes went to the only prospective slogan that was not my original creation. The blog's new slogan is a quote from the 1993 Coneheads movie!
As for the new decorations--they're leftovers from a piece I just finished for Topless Robot on nerd religion. The title backdrop is the Sacred Chao: the holy symbol of Discordianism representing the balance between Chaos(the Golden Apple of Eris)and Order(the Pentagon).
The new poll addresses my dissatisfaction with the name I originally picked for this blog. I was never really enthusiastic about it, so I thought I'd give you guys the opportunity to improve it. And just in case anyone's curious, the 2nd entry: "Grandiloquent And Histrionic" is a nod to the first essay I ever wrote when I was in College. See, along with the Proffessors, sometimes upperclassmen would read and review essays. Those two words were a fellow student's assessment of my writing style--it's not often I'm faced with terms I must look up in order to fully understand. Essentially, he called my writing pretentious, overly elaborate, and exaggerated.
I find this amusing now--I didn't then.
Anyway, on to the Main Event!

Firefly: Is there a human soul in existence that has seen this show and not loved it? I could fill every byte of space on this blog with accolades and still have more gushing to do.
Today, our focus is on the sublime women of Joss Whedon's masterpiece. Now, just to get this out of the way, you gotta admit: the boy sure as Hell knows how to pick 'em! But it's not merely the prodigious beauty of these women that concerns us today, rather, I'm interested in the archetypical nature of the characters they so ably play.
I don't mean to imply that the distaff cast of Firefly represents the entire range of feminine personality types--but one must admit they provide a fair sample.
Such is the brilliance of Joss Whedon: not only did he bring us superlative eye-candy, but each magnificent woman featured presents a uniquely appealing persona--something for everyone, one might say.
So what's your poison?
Zoe: Strong, silent, and sexy |
Inara: Pure seduction and unmatchable class |
River: Fascinating but erratic |
Kaylee: Utterly irresistible sweetness |
Saffron: So wrong, yet so very right |
And don't feel left out, female readers! If you're not predisposed to choosing which one you'd want--ask yourself which one you are.(or, by all means, do both!)
